SELLER’S GUIDE

Our auction represents a very efficient way of turning your used vehicle into cash.  If you intend to sell your car at the auction, it is worth considering the following:

Make every effort to present your car in the best possible way.  Ensure that it is cleaned and polished, inside and out.

Write clearly on the entry form, giving all vehicle details.  REMEMBER: a misleading description may make the owner liable to prosecution under the various trading standards laws and you will be charged commission in the event of a cancelled sale.

Bring your car or van to the auction as early as possible on the day of the sale or, preferably, the day before.  Make sure that you bring all paperwork relating to the vehicle i.e. Logbook (V5), MOT Certificate, road tax disc and service history if applicable, together with any loose items such as radio front, locking wheel nut key.

Our experienced staff and professional auctioneers will be pleased to assist in providing a valuation and advise a suitable reserve price to ensure the best chance of sale.

Vehicles without a valid MOT certificate must be entered without reserve and will be sold to the highest bidder.  In exceptional circumstances, a vehicle may be accepted with a reserve price, if a valuation has previously been agreed with the auctioneer.

Your entry fee (see charges section), which is payable at the time of entry, covers entry into two consecutive sales after which time a second entry fee is due, should you wish your vehicle to be entered into further sales.

Unsold vehicles will be subject to a storage charge on a daily basis if not removed when requested (see charges section).

When your vehicle is sold, a commission is chargeable (see charges section). Commission rates are also on display in reception.  All charges are deducted from the sale proceeds.  When your vehicle is sold, a remittance advice and cheque (A/C Payee only) will be posted by first class mail one week after the day of sale.  Please ensure that your full name, address and post code are printed clearly on the entry form as these details cannot be changed after the sale.

If your vehicle is subject to a hire purchase agreement, you must ensure that all relevant details are included on the entry form.  We are able to settle finance agreements provided that the net sale proceeds are sufficient to clear the outstanding balance.  A nominal charge is made for this service (see charges section).  Please not that it is a criminal offence to sell a vehicle without clearing outstanding finance and we check all vehicles sold against hire purchase information registers at the time of the sale.  This register will disclose if any finance house has an interest, if it is recorded with the police as stolen, if it has been the subject of a total loss insurance claim or had a change of registration number.
